Overview
Westminster Law School Level 4 LL.B tuition is your first major step to becoming a Barrister, Solicitor or for exploring many different legal practice and other career paths. For those wishing to pursue a career path towards legal practice, this renowned degree gives you a strong foundation for the future with its strong focus on analysis, problem solving, attention to detail, argument and communication. It is an excellent option for students pursuing a legal career or with a general interest in law.
In your first year you will study the core principles of law and learn the skills you need to read and apply legal authorities, such as case reports, academic commentary, Acts of Parliament and EU legislation. Your second and third years will allow you to choose from a broad range of specialist fields – such as human rights law, intellectual property and medical negligence.
The first year of the LL.B Law degree consists of 4 modules for Graduate Entry, which serve as the foundational courses for the study of law. These modules provide students with a broad understanding of key legal principles and concepts across various areas of law.

Contract Law
This compulsory module provides an introduction to the principles of contract law both in common law and equity. It aims to develop your understanding of how these principles are applied to various agreements. You will study topics such as the formation of contracts, terms and conditions, vitiating factors (such as mistake, misrepresentation, duress), discharge of contracts, and remedies for breach of contract. Through this module, you will gain a solid foundation in contract law principles and their practical application.
Criminal Law
This compulsory module focuses on the general principles of criminal liability. It explores the elements of criminal offences and examines a range of fatal and non-fatal offences against the person (such as murder, manslaughter, assault) as well as selected offences against property (such as theft, burglary). You will study the definitions of crimes, the elements required for establishing criminal liability, and the defenses available in criminal cases, such as insanity and self-defense. This module provides an understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of criminal law.
Tort Law
This compulsory module is a branch of civil law that deals with civil wrongs, other than breach of contract, committed by one party against another. It provides a legal framework for individuals to seek compensation for harm or injury caused by the wrongful actions of others. The purpose of tort law is to provide a remedy for those who have suffered harm and to deter future wrongful conduct.
Public Law
This compulsory module concentrates on constitutional issues and reforms, examining the key aspects governing the relationship between citizens and the state. It covers topics such as the separation of powers, the rule of law, constitutional conventions, human rights, judicial review, and administrative law. By studying public law, you will gain an understanding of the legal principles that shape the relationship between individuals and the government, and the legal mechanisms for holding public authorities accountable.
These four compulsory modules at Level 4 provide a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental areas of Contract law, Criminal law, the Legal system and Method and Public law. They establish a solid foundation of legal knowledge and skills necessary for further study and understanding of the laws.
