The Westminster Law School, Law for Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to assist them in their community volunteering responsibilities of witnessing documents and minor judicial duties. Our curriculum is designed for both practicing Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths and persons who are aspiring to hold such an honourable office. This United Kingdom Distance Learning course enables eligible applicants to apply to become a Qualified Justice of the Peace and or Commissioner of Oaths.
Course overview
Upon successful completion of the JP course, you will understand all the responsibilities of Commissioners for Oaths, as well as several judicial duties both ‘non-bench’ and ‘minor bench’ including skills with respect to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution).
The professional skills acquired through this course are of crucial importance for upholding the law with key knowledge with special emphasis in the following areas:
- Witnessing important documents
- Witnessing signatures
- Witnessing statutory declarations
- Witnessing affidavits
- Witnessing and administer oaths and affirmations
- Certifying a true copy of an original document
- Issuing search warrants

Refund Policy
Please note that deposits are non-refundable, and once the course is paid in full, no refund will be given for cancellations unless 5 business days’ notice is given (less a 20% administration fee). Should we need to postpone a course for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the course within the following two months. If, however, this is not possible, or the rescheduled dates do not suit, participants will be entitled to a full refund.
Once payment has been made on a distance learning course, and study materials have been issued, no refund is available.
