Westminster Law School Level 4 Diploma in Law qualification is to give learners the opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of core legal principles and help build foundational professional and research skills for which learners will study 4 major units over one academic year.
These qualifications are designed to provide opportunities for learners to acquire a broad range of knowledge and understanding and to develop a range of skills essential for a successful career in law. The qualification also provides the underpinning knowledge of the law contributing to preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination.
The Level 4 Diploma in Law is a 120-credit Ofqual-regulated qualification and is the equivalent level to the first year of a university degree. It has been designed for learners who wish to progress to university and, when taken in combination with the Level 5 Diploma in Law, allows learners to progress onto an LLB top-up degree programme (the final year of university).

Unit 1: Contract Law
This compulsory module provides an introduction to the principles of contract law both in common law and equity. You will study topics such as the formation of contracts, terms and conditions, vitiating factors (such as mistake, misrepresentation, duress), discharge of contracts, and remedies for breach of contract. Entry Requirements
While there is no strict formal qualification requirement, it is recommended that applicants have one of the following to be considered for admission:
- Learners must be over the age of 17
- GCE A-Level with achievement in 2 or more subjects supported by 5 or more GCSEs at grades 4 and above.
- A Level 3 qualification in law or legal studies, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Law.
- Other equivalent international qualifications.
- Mature entry through 2 years and over work experience in a law related field
- A good standard of written and spoken English.
Schedule
The accelerated learning model allows students to achieve their qualifications in the shortest possible time. This has become popular amongst many undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Westminster Law School will be delivering the RQF programme using the accelerated model of 3 semesters per year, with each semester running for a duration of 3 months.
This allows students to finish a level in as little as 6 months (2 semesters). For students who wish to progress at a slower pace, the semester system allows them the flexibility to study just one unit at a time and finish a level in 18 months.

Learners completing the Level 4 Diploma in Law can progress to:
